In August 2001, a few gay fans of Hertha in Berlin had enough of always having to hide themselves in the Olympia stadium. So they founded the first ever gay and lesbian fan club in the Bundesliga (Premier League in Germany).
Ever since, the rainbow flag is hanging not only in the Berlin stadium but also in other cities after more gay fan clubs had been founded. Dortmund, Stuttgart, St. Pauli (Hamburg), Bern and Basle were the first to follow, others are just being founded.
They all have the same purpose: to draw the attention to the fact that there are gay and lesbian football fans - also and especially where opposite players are being assaulted as „poofs“ and no professional player has dared to come out: in the stadiums. (Except for Justin Fashanu, British player who commited suicide.)
This website wants to give an overview of the different gay fan clubs and help them network. The first ever QFF meeting was held in November 2007 in Dortmund and the next is already scheduled. If your gay and lesbian fan club is missing here, don’t hesitate to contact us:
